That every child deserves to be the hero of their own story.
An Inkling of You was founded on a simple belief, that getting lost in a story is one of the best things a childhood can hold. Its founder grew up on a farm in the British countryside, where books were the way out into bigger adventures and whole afternoons vanished into make believe. A childhood spent making art and writing stories led to a career in publishing, which only deepened the belief that a story a child can step inside does real and lasting work, in imagination, in confidence, in how they come to see the world.
An Inkling of You grew out of all of it. A small way to bring stories alive and let a child step inside one, and find themselves there.
Our stories and our art
The worlds come from out-of-copyright classics, Wonderland, Oz and the jungle. The words are our own retelling, written to be read aloud, and every illustration is made in one warm painted house style that's ours alone. We don't reproduce anyone else's character designs.
Made with care, printed in the UK
Each book is finished by hand and checked before it's sent. You see a proof and approve it before anything is printed, and your hardcover is produced and posted within the UK. We're a young imprint, building our library one title at a time, Alice in Wonderland first, with more on the way.
