A small imprint with one idea.

That every child deserves to be the hero of their own story.

An Inkling of You was founded on the belief that one of the greatest gifts of childhood is the chance to disappear into a story. Its founder grew up on a farm in the British countryside, where books opened the door to bigger worlds. Days were spent making art, writing stories, and getting lost in imagined adventures long before a career in publishing turned that childhood love into a lifelong craft. A book a child can truly step inside can spark imagination, nurture confidence, and shape the way a child sees themselves and the world around them.

An Inkling of You grew out of all of it. A small way for a child to get lost in a story and find themselves there.

Our stories and our art

The worlds come from out-of-copyright classics, Wonderland, Oz and the jungle. The words are our own retelling, written to be read aloud, and every illustration is made in one warm painted house style that's ours alone. We don't reproduce anyone else's character designs.

Made with care, printed in the UK

Each book is finished by hand and checked before it's sent. You see a proof and approve it before anything is printed, and your hardcover is produced and posted within the UK. We're a young imprint, building our library one title at a time, Alice in Wonderland first, with more on the way.
