Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 June 2026.
Who you're buying from
These terms apply to books bought from An Inkling of You, operated in the United Kingdom. Placing an order means you accept them. Questions: aninklingofyou@gmail.com.
Your order
When you place an order you give us a photograph of the child, their first name and age, and any dedication. You confirm you are the child's parent or guardian, or have their permission, to use the photo for your book. Your order is accepted when we confirm it by email.
Price and payment
The price of a book is £35 plus postage, shown before you pay. Payment is taken securely through our payment provider. We don't see or store your card details.
Proofs and approval
Before we print, we email you a proof of your book to check. Nothing is printed until you approve it. Please check the spelling of the name, the age and the dedication carefully — once you approve, that's what we print.
If the likeness isn't right
The likeness matters to us. If you're not happy with how the child looks in the proof, tell us and we'll repaint it — one free revision is included with every order. Beyond that, further revisions may be agreed case by case.
Cancellations and returns
Because every book is personalised and made to order, it is exempt from the standard 14-day right to cancel that applies to off-the-shelf goods (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). In plain terms: once you've approved your proof and the book is in production, it can't be cancelled or returned simply because you've changed your mind, because it can't be resold to anyone else.
This does not affect your legal rights. If your book arrives faulty, damaged or not as approved, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll put it right with a replacement or refund.
Delivery
We aim to deliver within around two weeks of your proof being approved, within the UK. Timings are estimates and can be affected by the postal service.
Our artwork and stories
The stories are our own retellings of out-of-copyright classics, and all illustrations and designs are ours. Your book is for personal use. You may share photos of your own book, but the artwork and text remain our intellectual property and may not be reproduced or resold.
Your photograph
How we handle the child's photograph and your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
Our responsibility
We take care to make every book well, but we're not liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable or that fall outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
